How to Translate the Game

This guide requires your game to be at least version 0.1.7

How do I install custom Translations

Translations are stored in a Translations folder, next to the Mods folder in the folder of the game's executable. Dropping a translation file (a .txt file) will make it show up in-game. Files in the Translation folder are always prioritized over in-game translations with the same name. There is no point in editing these Translations by hand.

How to select the Translation in-game

Go the Language in the Settings and select your translation.

How do I make a custom Translation

Move to the Mod Manager:

Then select the Edit Translations button:

Then select "create new" in the dropdown button in the topleft. If you want to edit an existing Translation you can select an existing one. In case it is a built-in translation it will create a copy in your Translations folder.

Then you can start translating. Red cells are items that are missing translations. To quickly navigate through them you can use tab and ctrl-tab. The panel to the right also indicates what the original text is and gives a usage hint. The folder buttons at the top will turn from red to gray once all items related to them are translated, making it easy to keep track of your progress.

What do all the Buttons do

Select Translation:  Allows you to select an existing translation or create a new one.

Verify All: Check all folder buttons and see whether all related data is translated. It's best to click this button after selecting a new translation.

Save: Save the translation.

Perform Action: Automates filling in names for upgrades, since those are just "Original name" + II or III or IV or V.

Debug: Opens other debug utilities, you won't need this.

Why is not everything Translated

Some aspects of the UI are still hardcoded and cannot be translated yet. As development of the game progresses they'll slowly become available. If some aspects are critical to understanding your translated work, feel free to open a bug report in the Discord and I'll prioritize it.
